even sportive based ones, rather than focusing on what is better between Wing Chun and Boxing we try to see how knowledge

 

of Wing Chun can help our Boxing and Visa Versa.  Elements of Wing Chun are taught in every TXJKD class and Tai

 THE STYLE OR TECHNIQUE YOU PRACTICE IS FAR LESS IMPORTANT THAN WHAT YOU PRACTICE EQUATING IT AGAINST

​Bruce like to base his skills off of being able to apply them against not only other traditional Kung Fu stylist but against Western Boxers and Wrestlers when he came to America. This mindset was crucial to the development of JKD. Today we have MMA which produces some of the best fighter/athlete combinations you could run across. These are the types of  fighters that give many traditional practitioners problems. In our more contemporary methods of Jeet Kune Do training we include Western Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which is the most common arts practiced in MMA. Even if you are strictly training to connect to the arts or the past or focused purely on street defense it is important that you understand thetiming and applications of these arts in order to be able to deal with them. As a result of this it also opens the door for studentswho do have a calling to compete in the sportive arts and we have successful students who compete in Boxing, Submission

Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts.

All the training in the Traditional Methods can make you a great Martial Artist. The Training in the Sportive Arts can make you a

 

great fighter or competitor but sometimes these things fall short to address common situations people face in today's world. Our

 

reality based applications prepare us for all types of violent encounters including life threatening attacks with no rules and no time

 

limmits. These attacks could be on you and or your family. They could include one or mulitiple opponents who could be unarmed or

 

armed with an assortment of edged or blunt weapons. They could come in the form of a Buglery, Home Invasion, Car-Jacking, Gang

 

Attack, Riot, Sexual Assualt, or an Act of Terror just to name a few. Training for these types of situation is much more than physical

 

and must include pre and post fight applications. Situational Awareness is crutial to your prevention of most of these situations but

 

even if the senario is unavoidable weather you survive is often based around how much information you gathered in the seconds

 

right before your physical action. Did you scan the area to see how people are around, did you look for exit or locate improvised

 

weapons. If you survive the physical altercation often the battle has just begun and you must maintain a clear head to take the

 

proper steps to get your self to safety contact the proper athorities and be able to artiulate yourself correctly and justify your

 

actions based off the correct use of force. Through both mental and physical trainining, stress inocluation, and realitic senarios we

 

help to prepair you for any and all situations.

OUR MARTIAL ARTS CURRICULUM IS DIVIDED INTO 4 MODULES OF STUDY. EACH MODULE HAS A STRIKING FOCUS, STAND UP GRAPPLING FOCUS, A GROUND FIGHTING FOCUS AND A WEAPONS TRAINING FOCUS.

 

 

 

 

OUR PHYSICAL TRAINING OPERATES ON A 12 MONTH ROTATING CURRICULUM THAT AS WELL AS WEAPONS TRAINING.

 

 THIS INCLUDES SPORTIVE TRAINING METHODS FROM WESTERN BOXING, SAVATE, MUAY THAI, WRESTLING & BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU. IT ALSO INCLUDES TRADITIONAL CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING FROM WING CHUN, TAI CHI, BAGUZHANG AND MORE. FOR WEAPONS TRAINING WE USE FILIPINO KALI/ESCRIMA WHICH ENCOMPASSES ALL 7 CONFIGURATIONS OF IMPROVISED AND MAKESHIFT WEAPONS BUT PRIMARILY FOCUSES ON STICK OR KNIFE TRAINING. WE SUPPLEMENT THE MARTIAL ARTS WITH COMBATIVE AND TACTICAL TRAINING WHICH INCLUDES SCENARIO TRAINING AS WELL AS WEAPON RETENTION AND DEPLOYMENT METHODS FOR EDGED WEAPONS, BLUNT WEAPONS AND FIREARMS. ALL TRAINING SESSIONS INCLUDE FUNCTIONAL FITNESS METHODS

ROTATING MODULE CURRICULUM

WE USE A ROTATING CURRICULUM THAT CONSIST OF 4 MODULES WHICH LAST THREE MONTHS EACH MAKING A 12 MONTH CYCLE. EMORE IMPORTANT THAN THE INDIVIDUAL FOCUS POINTS IS DEVELOPING THE ATTRIBUTE OF ADAPTABILITY AND FLOW. AS BRUCE LEE SAID WE MUST BE LIKE WATER AND NOT BE CONFINED TO ANY STYLE, RANGE OF COMBAT OR LEVEL OF FORCE. FIGHTS SHIFT AND CHANGE AND YOU MUST "CHANGE WITH THE CHANGE". THE STRIKING LESSON IS ALWAYS BLENDED WITH THE STAND UP GRAPPLING LESSON DOWN TO THE GROUND FIGHTING LESSON AND WEAPONS ARE THROWN IN THE MIX ON TOP OF THAT SO THAT YOU TRULY LEARN TO FLOW!

TESTING

WE RUN OUR TRAINING LIKE A COLLEGE COURSE. WE HAVE SMALL TESTING EVENTS QUARTERLY AT THE END OF EVERY MODULE. YOU ARE TESTED ON THE INDIVIDUAL FOCUSES OF THE MODULE  AS WELL AS YOUR ABILITY TO BLEND THEM AND FLOW. TESTING INCLUDES PHYSICAL TEST, VERBAL TEST, WRITTEN TEST AND FITNESS TEST . STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO LEARN MARTIAL HISTORY, PHILOSOPHY & STRATEGY ALONG WITH THEIR PHYSICAL GROWTH. AT THE END OF EVERY 12 MONTH CYCLE WE HAVE A FINIAL EXAM TESTING WHICH IS GIVEN OVER A WEEKEND AND TEST YOUR ABILITIES TO PUT ALL YOUR KNOWLEDGE TOGETHER.

RANKING

OUR CURRICULUM HAS 8 STUDENT LEVELS. EACH OF THE MODULES HAS 8 LEVELS OF PROGRESSION WHICH COINCIDE WITH OUR 8 STUDENT LEVELS. TO EARN YOUR LEVEL ONE YOU MUST PASS ALL LEVEL ONE REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL 4 MODULES. ONCE YOU CYCLE BACK THOUGH THE MODULES THE NEXT TIME THE FOCUS POINTs ARE THE SAME BUT YOU ARE NOW LEARNING LEVEL 2 PROGRESSIONS. TIME WILL VARY FROM STUDENT TO STUDENT DEPENDING ON HOW OFTEN YOU TRAIN HOWEVER IT WILL TAKE A MINIMUM OF 1 YEAR PER LEVEL TO COMPLETE OUR 8 LEVELS OF TRAINING UNLESS YOU ARE DOING A PRIVATE TRAINING PROGRAM

BECAUSE WE TRAIN IN ATHLETIC OR STREET CLOTHES AND NOT A TRADITIONAL GI WE DO NOT USE A BELT SYSTEM HOWEVER WE ISSUE SWEAT BAND STYLE COLORED WRIST BANDS SO THAT THE INSTRUCTOR CAN EASILY IDENTIFY YOUR LEVEL. THESE COLORS FOLLOW TRADITIONAL BELT COLORS USED IN MANY MARTIAL ARTS SYSTEMS

WHEN A STUDENT REACHES LEVEL 8 (BLACK) IS THE ONLY TIME WE AWARD A TRADITIONAL BELT WHICH IS STRICTLY FOR CEREMONIAL REASONS AND IS STILL NOT WORN DURING TRAINING. THE LEVEL 8 IS NOT THE END OF THE TRAINING BY FAR HOWEVER AND JUST REPRESENTS YOUR COMPLETION OF ALL THE BASICS AND THE NEW JOURNEY BEGINS!
