About the JKDF
Jeet Kune Do Federation (JKDF) is committed to providing a level of martial arts training that meets or exceeds the requirements of any other JKD Association. The JKDF was founded so that TRUE Martial Artist could have a place to train under an instructor that TRULY understands JKD and its origins, without all the politics that other organizations have. Shihan Maynard has dedicated his life to the true teachings of JKD in its rawest form, True simplicity! To clear up a few rumors, Shihan was not “fired” from any position with the SDS, he resigned, this is a “TRUE” following of what conspired. Shihan Maynard broke away and on his own accord, resigned from the SDS/JKDA for many reasons some of which are as follows.

1. A lack of respect and compassion from the SDS/JKDA management in regards to the loss of Shihan Maynard’s eldest son in April 2007.
2. Prevention of personal and professional growth, as to marketing Shihan’s ideas and drills as their own and not allowing Shihan to create his own  DVD’s and or manuals without the approval of SDS/JKDA. As well as marketing it as “theirs”, when in fact portions the material in the SDS/JKDA system was a direct result of the collaboration between Shihan and SDS without ANY recognition on his part.
3. The SDS setting “standards” and then going back on them to suit their needs as they see fit.

     “I enjoyed several of the 17 years I spent with the Jeet Kune Do Association, I felt in the beginning we were a tight fit group and a family. Over the last few years we grew apart and had different views and opinions, I felt it was time to move on so I could continue to grow as a martial arts and human being. Over the years that I was with the JKDA I forged several close friendships and met many great martial artist that I miss dearly and it is unfortunate that due to politics of the JKDA/SDS that I can not continue those relationships.”

JKDF teaches Bruce Lee's original Jeet Kune Do, as it was developed by Bruce and James Yimm Lee. James Lee was a mentor, training partner, and a close friend of Bruce. James was about 20 years older than Bruce, and with the experience of his Wing Chun and boxing background, he was much a part of the development of Jeet Kune Do as Bruce was. In 1966, James took over the Oakland School, which was taught out of James' garage. Although, Bruce was still the head instructor for this school. James also helped develop much of the training equipment for Bruce, and his Oakland students. James Lee passed away in 1972, just six months before Bruce.

JKDF was founded by Shihan Mitch Maynard of Decatur, Texas. Shihan Maynard has studied with some of the finest instructors in the world. Years of intense training and study has yielded Shihan Maynard's Master Instructor status of Bruce Lee's original Jeet Kune Do. Shihan Maynard is a Master Instructor in Jeet Kune Do and Instructor under the Late Grandmaster Remy Presas (founder of Modern Arnis).
Shihan Mitch Maynard brings his level of martial arts experience and excellence to his classes at JKDF . Since its inception, Jeet Kune Do Federation has provided training for many law enforcement personnel and agencies, and has trained a myriad of individuals in the art of not only JKD, but several other martial arts as well. At JKDF , you will receive a level of training that specializes in personal protection, void of sport aspects and aesthetics.

Furthermore THE Jeet Kune Federation is in NO WAY ASSOCIATED with ANY OTHER JKD ASSOCIATIONS, ORGANIZATIONS OR FEDERATIONS and in NO WAY resembles or claims to "mimic" other organizations!!!
